The number of self-employed workers has risen by 30,000 during the third quarter of 2015 according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The rise is particular welcome as the figures for unemployed workers rose by 0.3% over the quarter, and now stands at 73.3%.
National Living Wage set to Increase
A new National Living Wage (NLW) for workers aged 25 and over will take effect from April 2016. It will start at £7.20 and look to rise to £9.00 by 2020.
Home Office Launch Campaign to ‘Root Out’ Illegal Workers within the Construction Industry
The Home Office have announced they have launched a campaign called Operation Magnify to ‘root out’ illegal workers in the construction industry. The campaign will target businesses that employ illegal workers.
